Join us in reading, The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie. This novel is “heartbreaking, funning and beautifully written”. It chronicles the contemporary adolescent experience of one young Native American boy who is living and learning in worlds that are far apart yet so connected. Sherman Alexie challenges readers to (re)define their understandings of Aboriginal/Native American realities.

We will be hosting a book club events that focus on prominent themes within the novel. The event will begin with a guest speaker followed by a discussion of the book.

This community book club is part of the Faculty of Education’s Year of Teacher Education, aimed at practising teachers, UBC teacher candidates as well as our broader community of parents and others.
