Flexible Learning Showcase

Flexible Learning Showcase

Date & Time:  Wednesday, October 23, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Location: Room 301, Lillooet Room, 3rd floor, Irving K. Barber Learning Centre

Description:

Earlier this year, UBC launched the Flexible Learning Initiative with the goal of expanding the use of innovative technologies and teaching methods to improve student learning across the University. UBC has long been a leader and an innovator in this field, thanks to endeavors like the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative, the Science Centre for Learning and Teaching (formerly called Skylight), and many other projects spearheaded by faculty members who are interested in this evolving field. After an initial call for proposals in June 2013, 41 projects are currently being supported through the Flexible Learning Initiative. They span themes such as the flipped classroom, the creation of open resources, students as co-producers of learning content, and community-based learning experiences for students. In total, 100 courses comprising approximately 34,000 student enrolments will be impacted over the duration of these projects.

Join this interactive presentation to learn about how this first round of projects is progressing and what we’re learning as students and educators.
