Saving a Generation: Maternal, Newborn and Child Health in the Developing World

Description: The 2013 AKFC-IDRC University Seminar Series will focus on the challenges and successes of maternal, newborn, and child health in the developing world.

Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC), in partnership with Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), is pleased to announce the 2013 University Seminar Series – an opportunity for students to interact with development practitioners and learn more about key issues and challenges in the field. The series will be held at universities across Canada this fall.

The 2013 University Seminar Series will focus on the challenges and successes of maternal, newborn, and child health in the developing world. This year’s distinguished speakers are Dr Idity Iyer, Research Coordinator with the Centre for Public Policy, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India and Dr Rudoba Rakhmatova, Senior Health Programme Officer with Aga Khan Foundation, Tajikistan. Drawing on examples from India and Tajikistan, the speakers will provide a window into the health context of their respective regions.

Co-sponsored by UBC’s School of Population and Public Health, Dr Iyer and Dr. Rakhmatova will be presenting at the University of British Columbia.
