Description: Responding with Respect is a three-hour training developed in a partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association and UBC Human Resources.

The training is designed to help faculty and staff to recognize the symptoms of anxiety and depression in the workplace, respond in an empathic and productive way and also refer themselves or their colleagues to appropriate resources. The training is an interactive opportunity to help create a healthier UBC community, particularly aimed at the most common mental illnesses: depression and anxiety. It includes factual information, best practices in empathic communication, internal and external resources for UBC community members and case studies.

Responding with Respect is normally offered to Departments and Units to take as a group and Celebrate Learning Week is the first opportunity to open the session to all interested members of the UBC community.
