Preparing for the Present: Exploring The Value of Mindfulness For Teaching & Learning

Description: Join us for a conversation with Geoffrey Soloway who will share his research-informed insights about:

* Engagement in learning

* Social and emotional competence and wellbeing in the classroom

* Reflective practice

* Constructivist learning & holistic vision of teaching

* Personal and professional identity

We will begin our session with a few minutes of mindfulness practice, hear from Geoffrey, and talk briefly about upcoming events for this community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Geoffrey Soloway, Health and Wellness Specialist at University of British Columbia, is currently engaged in developing Mindfulness Initiative by creating a Mindfulness Collaborative of the UBC Faculty and Staff. He completed his doctoral work on mindfulness in education at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. He also taught a Mindfulness-Based Wellness Education course to teacher candidates in the Teacher Education program, which was the focus of his dissertation.
